Wow.
The investigating, eager-to-learn mindset of Annie Leonard is something I can surely relate to, but her discipline to actually figure out about this "stuff" is an area I lack in. On a surface level, this video is outstanding and easily captures all of my attention. But as far as the content goes... Just, wow. It did nothing short of overwhelm me and, at times, had me decently emotional about what we do, how we go about it, but most of all, our motives behind each and every destructive move we make. It hit me rather severely when she bluntly mentioned just a few of the things we could be placing our money and efforts into- health care, education, safe transportation and sustainability- yet instead we place all of our emphasis and all of our efforts into consumer goods because that is our country's top priority.
?
I became very overwhelmed at the thought of what a large scale this destruction is on- thinking, "how am I, we, this to reverse, uproot, change ALL of what is going on?" With that argument swirling within me and weighing very heavily on my mind and emotions, I adored how the video ended on a positive note. Specifically how she said that all of this got the way it did because of people, and we're people too, so we have the ability to do as we please with that power, which ideally would be to create a renewed outlook and henceforth renewed patterns.
